I love my HTC Hero. It has a nifty program called Footprints, which lets you take pictures of all the places you visit, geotags them, and you can then export them into Google Maps/Earth. This is nothing revolutionary, but it just works… very well. The GPS locates almost instantly, which is refreshing, as my C905 took about a minute on a good day.
I’ve started to keep a Footprint Diary of all the destinations I’ve visited - some recent, and some not so (you can import pictures and manually geotag them). It’s interesting to see how far and wide I’ve travelled. And also how little of the world I’ve actually seen! The map above shows my progress so far - for some reason the photos don’t show on Google Maps (although they do in Google Earth?!?!).
Though I doubt I’ll be travelling abroad for a few years (due to the Bean), in a year’s time, it’ll be good to see how many more places in the UK I’ve been to.
